All participants are required to register upon arrival and get body marked race number on arm

Swimmers are not permitted to use the beach after the event. However, TriClub Doha Members may purchase a day pass at a reduced rate of 30 QAR from Fit Island.

Safety

The event will have water support provided by Aquaguild. In case of requiring assistance, float on your back and raise an arm.

The course crosses ropes which have been submerged for the event. It is important that you cross at the points marked by buoys in order to avoid abrasions from contact with the ropes.

Swimming is at your own risk and responsibility. You must be able to cover the distance without assistance

Swimming tow-floats allowed and recommended. A tow-float aids visibility and offers some floatation in case of difficulties. It is not a rescue aid or primary floatation device

Starts

Due to the popularity of the event and the inexperience of some swimmers, there won't be mass starts for each distance. Rather, we'll start in waves according to speed (time to swim 100m). This way everyone should be able to race against others of similar speed and swimmers will spread out along the course, reducing congestion at buoys. You are strongly recommended to start in a realistic wave for your speed.

The races are therefore chip timed, starting from when you cross the line.

Start Times:

7:00am The Ultra 2000, The Sprint 1000
7:45am (approximate) The Enticer 500, Kids & Novices

Course

The course is a 500m lap with an Australian exit between each lap. Time is recorded from crossing the start to crossing the finish (chip time). Pass each buoy, keeping to the outside in the direction of travel - right shoulder for all bouys except that before swim exit.

Be sure to cross the timing mat on each exit from the water and at the finish.

Rules

Swimming aids which confer an advantage, such as fins, paddles, pull-buoys, and buoyancy shorts, may not be used

Wetsuit use is only allowed in cases of cold water or weather. This is at the discretion of the organiser and in consultation with World Triathlon rules

Tow-float (swim buoy) use is allowed but forward motion while using the buoy for floatation is not allowed

Cut-off time 90 minutes

Parking

There is limited parking outside the venue. You are recommended to park across Al Dafna street in the large vacant lot next to the Wyndham Grand Hotel. Allow an extra 10 minutes travel time in case beach parking is full.
