The Education City Triathlon Series - Currently on Pause!!

In conjunction with Qatar Foundation, TriClub Doha kicks off the ninth season of Education City Triathlon Series on Friday 22nd October 2021. This triathlon takes place at the Qatar Academy Primary at Qatar Foundation Education City, using the Recreation Centre 50m indoor pool for the swim, with the bike and run course on closed-off internal roads in Education City.

This triathlon caters to all ages and levels of triathletes, from the complete beginner finding their legs to more experienced triathlete wanting to stretch themselves on the sprint course.

Races normally take place early on Friday morning, shortly after sunrise. Check the Calendar for specific times

Race Distances:

Adult Individual Distances 

Beginners                 200m swim, 5km bike, 1.25km run
Super Sprint             200m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run
Sprint                       500m swim, 20km bike, 5km run

Kids and Junior Individual Distances 

Mini-Kids (3-6)*       100m run, 100m bike, 100m run (*not timed)
Kids 1 (7-9)              100m swim, 3km bike, 1.25km run
Kids 2 (10-11)          200m swim, 5km bike, 1.25km run
Kids 3 (12-13)          200m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run
Junior (14-15)          200m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run

Team Relay Distances (2 or 3 members per team)
Primary Kids            100m swim, 3km bike, 1.25km run

Secondary Kids       200m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run
Team Relay             500m swim, 20km bike, 5km run

Note: only 1 entry by the team captain is required to enter, the price covers the team;
name of the team and other team member names are collected by email after registration

At each race, all participants receive a branded giveaway and a finisher's medal. All finishers will be provided with refreshments at the finish line

Chip Timing

The race is timed by the use of a mylaps prochip timing system. Event Only Members paying full price are provided a chip for the event, however, a deposit of a Qatar ID or equivalent is needed at race registration. All Club Members, and those Event Only Members using their own timing chips, are responsible to make sure their chip is active on the day of the race. . In the event that an owned chip's subscription has expired and is not working, chips may be rented on race day for QAR50, subject to availability.

Awards and Podium Presentation
For the moment, due to COVID-19 restrictions, there are no podium presentation allowed according to Qatar Foundation requirements. Medals may be collected following the event from the TriClub Doha. Winners will be contacted following completion of the event.

At the end of the race each, the first three places for each sex are awarded winners medals at the podium for the following categories:

Individual Race Categories
Kids 1, Kids 2, Kids 3, Junior, Sprint – Open (18-39 years old), Sprint – Veteran (40+ years) Super Sprint 

Team Relay Race Categories 
Sprint, Primary Relay, Primary Secondary

Additionally, Gold medals are awarded to first place all-female relay teams in each category. In the event that the all-female is one the podium, the fourth-placed team will be upgraded to the podium

Club Championship Triathlon Series Awards

Club members participating in the individual distances are eligible to participate in the Qatar Foundation Triathlon Series Award for the season. To be eligible, participants must complete 3 out of 4 races.  Points are awarded based on the position in the race age group; 50 points for 1stplace, 49 points for 2ndplace, and so on with a minimum of 10 points for competing in the race in each age group. Super Sprint races are awarded starting at 40 points, and beginner races are awarded starting at 30 points. To be eligible, members are required to volunteer at one TriClub Doha event at QF per year. Parents may volunteer for Juniors. Any volunteer who misses a race to volunteer earns 50 points for that race. TriClub Doha relies upon the help of volunteers for our events to run smoothly. Bike Hire

If you don’t own a bicycle and would still like to participate in the race, there is a possibility to rent a basic bike from the Qatar Foundation for the race.

Qatar Foundation Staff: Free of charge
Non-Qatar Foundation participants: QR20/bike 

Bikes will be offered first booked, first-served basis. If there are bikes left, you can rent a bike at the race venue also without prior reservation. Payment for the rental bicycle is on-site on the race day and PAYMENT WITH CARD ONLY, NO CASH ACCEPTED! Qatar ID or QF ID card will be kept as a deposit, until the bicycle is returned.
